A juvenile student from Pioneer School in Delano was arrested Monday at his home after officials said he had written comments on a bathroom tile about bringing firearms to school and shooting people, according to a press release from the Delano Police Department.

The 13-year-old student has been identified and charged with criminal threats and threatening school officials according to police. He has been transported to Juvenile Hall.

The school principal, Anna Wyatt said that a teacher notified her that a Snapchat post indicated who had written the threat.

Officers said they have investigated the incident and spoke with several students prior to arresting the juvenile.

Chief Robert Nevarez said that his officers responded and after their investigation found while the threat was credible, there does not appear to be a continued threat to students and school officials.

Nevarez said out of an abundance of caution there will be an increased police presence at Pioneer School throughout the end of the week.
