The Outlets at Tejon are set to reopen their doors on Wednesday after being closed for two months due to COVID-19. Barry Zoeller, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications & Investor Relations for Tejon Ranch Co., said over a thousand people have been without work since the outlet closed.

The reopening will be in phases but 13 stores are set to open Wednesday such as Pottery Barn, Journeys, and Gap.

"We wanted to open as quickly as we could because every store that opens means people can come back to work and people can come back shopping but at the same time we wanted to open as safely as possible," said Zoeller.

Customers are encouraged to wear a mask but it's not required by the outlets. However, some stores may require one to shop inside.

"Each store will have its own protocol. We are encouraging masks within the outlets themselves but we are an open-air center. So, we have the distinct advantage here but at the same time some of the stores may require masks," added Zoeller.

Other areas at the outlets will also remain closed for now.

"We have closed our food court and all of the kiddie rides and the Camp Tejon which is located in the food court. Just to keep people distanced during this time but as things progress we may look to open that back up," said Zoeller.

Crews have been working to clean the entire center and hand-sanitizing stations have been installed in specific public areas within the center.

"We have plenty of signs throughout the center demonstrating how to do that as you are walking here with your shopping bags. Hands a part that's pretty good social distancing right there in terms of a guideline," continued Zoeller.

He said they are trying to get as many employees back to work as possible.

"Any employee coming back to work is worth it. And it is a good sign that things are beginning to open up and getting perhaps not yet back to normal but we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and that light is not a train."

The Outlets at Tejon have temporarily adjusted their operating hours to be open Monday through Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sundays 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. until further notice. You can also visit their website for questions and answers regarding Outlets at Tejon reopening.
