(UPDATE 11/10) The Kern County Coroner identified 20-year-old Celeste Christine Turner, of Delano, and 31-year-old Alexi Jovani Murilloas, of Wasco, as the drivers killed in a head-on vehicle crash on Highway 46, near Wasco, Monday morning.
(UPDATE 9:32 AM) The California Highway Patrol reports that a second driver died due to injuries sustained during a crash on Highway 46 Monday morning.
CHP said around 4:30 a.m., the driver of a Honda and BMW collided head-on on Highway 46, west of Beech Avenue. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the BMW was airlifted to Kern Medical Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The cause is still under investigation.
The California Highway Patrol is reporting there is at least one person dead and one person with major injuries in a head-on crash on Highway 46 at Beech Avenue, near Wasco.
The CHP reported around 4:30 a.m., all lanes were blocked due to the crash. CHP said it has since reopened the roadways.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
SR46 is now open in both directions.
