KERN COUNTY, Calif. — UPDATE: This section of NB Hwy 99 is now reopen following the traffic collision.

The Northbound Highway 99 is currently closed to all traffic following a vehicle rear-ending a semi truck.
According to the California Highway Patrol's incident page, the crash happened south of Mettler near the intersection of the 166 and the 99, just after 11:30 p.m. Monday. After rear-ending the semi, the vehicle caught on fire.
At this time, the incident page shows that all passengers were able to get out of their vehicles, and no injuries are listed.
Due to the crash, the 99 is closed in this area. Traffic is being diverted to Interstate 5.
