BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Tuesday, North High School's principal, Mark Balch told 23ABC that the school has secured a grad night for its seniors. This comes after we reached out to the school in regards to a parent who was upset about previous plans to cancel the traditional event.

Balch says the school has now scheduled a grad night for June 6 to Magic Mountain and need at least 40-100 students to confirm. Any students interested needs to bring $100 with this Friday May 31 to secure a spot on the trip, according to Balch.

He initially said that the decision to cancel grad night was made based off a lack of interest from students. In previous years, grad night featured a trip to Disneyland. Last year, the school reportedly saw a decline from 50 to 70 purchased tickets.

Balch said that another alternative was to have 17 of North High students join Shafter High's grad night. But, the school ultimately made the decision to plan a grad night of its own.

Balch also thanked 23ABC for bringing the issue to his attention.
