Parents at Palla Elementary were shocked to hear that nine 5th graders used a broken pair of scissors to slit their wrists and arms during class on Monday.

Michele Hill, whose son was one of the nine involved, said that she did not hear about Monday's incident until around noon on Tuesday, and is upset that she wasn't notified as soon as the incident occurred.

She says that she did not notice the marks on her son's arms Monday because he was wearing a long sleeve shirt and he did not want to get in trouble by disclosing the injuries.

Hill says that one student broke a pair of scissors and then used it to cut himself. Her son and seven other students followed suit and all were bleeding in class.

She says that the students asked the teacher for Band-Aids and the teacher did nothing.

Hills says it wasn't until the principal called her Tuesday afternoon that she learned about the incident involving her son.

"I think it's absolutely crazy that a teacher could sit and watch nine kids and not notice that they're slicing on themselves," said Hill.

"That's just, it's so bizarre to me."
