Chick-Fil-A could be opening up a new location in Northwest Bakersfield.

The company has proposed a zoning change in the area of 9030 Rosedale Highway, from a commercial retail space to a fast food space with a drive-thru.

If approved the location would be built in the space of the Old Pier 1 building.

The city council is expected to discuss the zoning change at Wednesday's city council meeting.

City staff has recommended approving the zoning change.

There is currently no information on when construction would begin, if the change is approved.
