BVS residents prepare for fire season

and last updated

Summer fire season is right around the corner and Kern County Fire is working to spread awareness to residents of areas with high-fire probability.

On Wednesday, multiple fire-fighting agencies gathered in Bear Valley Springs to meet with residents. Bear Valley Springs is an area of high tree mortality in Kern County.

The fire agencies encouraged residents to have a Ready, Set, Go plan in place before fire season.

“When there’s smoke in the air, it’s too late," said Chief Brian Marshall of the Kern County Fire Department.

"We want people to be ready, set, go. So ready is actually to be ready year round. Actually all emergency’s whether they’re earthquakes, or wildland fires… you need to be ready all the time.”

To help you in the creation of a Ready, Set, Go plan, you can visit the Firewise website.
