BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Several families are now needing assistance after a fire broke out at an apartment complex in South Bakersfield.
According to Bakersfield Fire Department, the fire broke out at about 3 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex on South M Street near Wilson Road and South Chester Avenue.
The fire quickly spread to four apartment units becoming a two-alarm response prompting Kern County Fire coming to help assist.
Fire crews were able to contain the blaze to just the four units and extinguish it within 20 minutes.
The American Red Cross is now helping four families, a total of 11 people after their apartments was burned.
Bakersfield fire officials say no one was injured during the fire and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
