(UPDATE 11/2) The Kern County Coroner identified the man killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday morning as 30-year-old Cody Andrew Dearmore.
A motorcycle crash in Northwest Bakersfield turned fatal overnight after it veered off the roadway, striking multiple objects.
The California Highway Patrol said the solo-vehicle crash happened near Santa Fe way and Allen Road just before 1:15 a.m. on Sunday morning.
CHP said the rider was heading Northbound on Allen road and for an unknown reason veered off to the right.
The rider then struck a street sign and a power pole, ejecting him from the motorcycle, according to CHP. The 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision caused the power pole and the motorcycle to catch fire but fire crews were able to put out the flames quickly.
It is unknown if any alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
