BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The California Highway Patrol is looking into whether or not a mechanical issue led to the deadly crash involving former McFarland City Manager John Wooner.
According to new court documents the CHP served a search warrant to inspect the Dodge Durango Wooner was driving. In the documents, officers asked to inspect the "event data recorder" to see if there was any evidence that may have contributed to the collision.
Officials plan to analyze the vehicle's motion, speed, steering and restraint systems.
Wooner's body was found inside the Dodge Durango on Sunday, July 28th after it was pulled from the Kern River. He was missing for more than a month.
An official cause of death has not been released.
