MCFARLAND, Calif. — The McFarland City Council is expected to appoint a new city manager during Thursday night's council meeting. This move comes more than three months after former manager John Wooner was initially reported missing.
Wooner was found dead in the Kern River in a submerged SUV last month. David Tooley, the former city manager in Madera, has been filling in as interim city manager.
Thursday night's meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the city council chambers at 103 W. Sherwood Avenue in McFarland.
According to the meeting agenda, the council and McFarland Mayor Manuel Canto Jr. will meet in a closed session to appoint the new manager.
