Kern County Sheriff's Office releases identity of man killed in Wasco shooting Tuesday night

UPDATE: Authorities have released the identity of the man who was shot and killed in Wasco overnight. Miguel Lopez, 37, of Wasco was found on Camellia Street and Palm Avenue around 9:20 Tuesday night.

Fire crews initially discovered the man had been shot. Lopez died at the scene.

Detectives are currently investigating it as a homicide. At this time the Kern County Sheriff's Office has no suspect information.

A man is dead after a shooting in Wasco late Tuesday night, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

Around 9:20 p.m., deputies responded to a call from the Emergency Communication Center, which advised that county fire personnel were on scene of a medical aid in the area of Camellia Street near Palm Avenue.

Fire crews discovered the patient was actually a victim of a shooting. The man died at the scene.

Homicide detectives later responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

KCSO said at this time, it is unknown who caused the shot the victim, but anyone with information is urged to call KCSO at 861-3110 or the Secret Witness line at 322-4040.
