BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A local family has been selected as the lucky recipients of an Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and a television crew is somewhere in town preparing for the big door knock.
It was just over a week ago that producers came to town looking for volunteers in a big push at the Fox Theater.
Many local companies are offering their services free of charge to help change one family's life by building them a new home.
The show has received several hundred applications to find a local family and the door knock is taking place sometime today. Then the transformation begins.
Officials with the show say it takes a thousand volunteers to get it done.
The show's original 9-year run was on ABC. Now the series is returning on HGTV.
The Bakersfield episode will air sometime in 2020.
