BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — In August of 2019, a local family's lives changed forever, once they were chosen to appear on HGTV's show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Single mom, Jessica Mosley, a mother to five aged 12-to-16, three which she adopted, say their new home is truly a reflection of them all.
The family says they don’t think they will ever get over their new dream home, thanks to the community's help.
"It's rewarding like, I said before, this isn’t just our home this is the community's home," Mosley said. "They helped build every piece of this house it's so loved."
The mother of five says when she heard that that the hit TV show was coming to Bakersfield, she had others in mine to be chosen and never thought of herself.
"We were kind of brainstorming about what families would be ideal and who deserved it," Mosley said. "So when I got the call a few days later I thought it was a joke. I was like there are more deserving people out there than me."
In the home, you can find the rest of the kids: Annie, Miguel, Jordyn, Cheyenne, Makynzie and their Grandmother.
They all agree the new house has brought them closer and are grateful for their own much-needed personal space, but they all share one favorite room.
"The kitchen was probably the biggest surprise it's crazy," Cheyenne said.
"In the kitchen, in our old house we would go in there a lot and we are like always grabbing food, and doing a lot of stuff in there," added Annie.
The Mosley kids say their experience with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has changed their lives forever.
