BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — They started as a charity golf tournament and have grown into so much more. Links for Life is helping women in Kern County help beat breast cancer.
During the month of October, they're celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a bunch of events around Bakersfield to raise money and awareness for early detection, support groups and wigs for women going through treatment.
Here is a list of events Links for Life is hosting around town:
October 1st - 6:30 p.m. SUPPORT GROUP MEETING

October 2nd - 12:00 p.m. OUTREACH EVENT

Links for Life will have a volunteer outreach event to help them host local events around Bakersfield. If you would like to volunteer you can visit their office.
October 3rd - 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. EMPOWHER WALK

Links for Life hosting a walk for women battling breast cancer at Mercy Hospital Southwest.
October 5th - 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. LACE'N IT UP 5K FUN RUN
The Park at River Walk
Links for Life is hosting a fun run 5K and celebration walk for survivors of breast cancer and to remember those who lost their battle to breast cancer. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., 5K starts at 8:30 a.m, celebration walk starts at 9 a.m.
October 7th - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. PANINI AND KABOBS

Links for Life is hosting a fundraiser lunch at Panini and Kabob Grill.
October 8th - 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. - SLICE OF HOPE
Rusty's Pizza Parlors
Links for Life has partnered with Rusty's Pizza Parlor to help raise money for Links for Life and Paint the Town Pink.
October 8th - 6:30 p.m. MEN'S STRONG LINKS HANGOUT

Links for Life is hosting a men's support group and hang out event at Imbibe Wine and Spirits to allow them to escape the day-to-day stresses of helping loved ones fight breast cancer.
October 15th - 6:30 p.m. GRUPO DE ESPERANZA

Links for Life hosts a monthly support group for Spanish speaking survivors
October 17th - 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ROSE AND WHISKEY TASTING

Celebrate Paint the Town Pink month with a Rosé and Whiskey Tasting at Imbibe Wine and Spirits. Buy any bottle of Rosé wine or Whiskey and Imbibe will make a donation back to Links for Life for each bottled purchased.
