Months after Brilliant Minds Academy was shut down due to lead exposure, the state has revoked the preschool's license.

The California Department of Social Services confirmed with 23ABC that Brilliant Minds Academy's license to operate a school-age child care and infant center has been revoked.

Court documents show the state issued the decision on August 14.

Brilliant Minds will have the option to apply for another license.

Back in April, lead in paint was found in soil and water at the preschool on Taft Highway and Stine Road.

Preliminary test results detected lead levels above regulatory standards in the paint and in soil in some areas within the preschool.

The preschool is in a building that was built prior to 1978, according to Public Health. Buildings built before this year may contain lead-based paint.
