A memorial service was held Thursday in honor of Dr. Jack H. Bloch who passed away back in May of this year.
Bloch was a beloved member of the Kern Medical Group and the community for more than 40 years.
Bloch was the chief of surgery and a mentor to many at KMC.
He trained and influenced hundreds of medical students and residents.
KMC says Bloch was instrumental in developing an affiliation with UCLA that still continues to this day.
A memorial fund has been established in his name where all funds raised will go towards resident and medial student education at KMC.
To donate, KMC says to send tax-deductible gifts to: Kern Medical Center Foundation, 1700 Flower Street, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
