BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Kern Transit has announced that it will be moving to an essential-staffing only model, effective immediately.
The company said the change will last through April 14.
Its county office will be closed at this time but Kern Transit said, "Because transit is an essential function, Kern Transit will keep operating for as long as we safely can."
"It is our intention to continue operating our regular schedule. Unfortunately, it may become necessary for us to cancel trips, possibly with short notice."
Kern Transit said the best way to stay up-to-date on its status is through social media like Twitter and Facebook. If you feel you need to speak to a staff member, you can do so by calling 1-800-323-2396 and choosing option 1. Due to the office closure, Kermn Transit is reminding callers not to choose option 5.
4/ Also, for everyone's safety, please wash your hands often (with soap and hot water for 20 seconds), practice social distancing (keep six feet between you and others), limit yourself to essential trips only, and STAY HOME IF YOU'RE SICK.
Thank you for your cooperation.
