BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Kern County Public Works has resumed a program for reusing and recycling paints, household cleaners and more for free, this program called The Stop 'n' Shop has officially opened today so the community to start picking up products.
The waste facility can be found at 4591 Standard St. The facility specializes in disposing of harmful household hazardous waste.
Portions of these products like paints, wood stains, and others are often placed on the shelves of the Stop ‘n’ Shop to be reused by potential customers. All of these items are available for free in limited quantities.
Stop 'n' Shop is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. You can shop for 10 minutes, and only once a week.
Additionally, it’s required for visitors to wear face coverings, only one shopper per vehicle is allowed to shop, and the Stop ‘n’ Shop may be shut down at any time without notice.
