BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is looking to hire at least 40 Detention Deputies.

KCSO will have at least two STC CORE Academies this year. The last time they had two academies in one year was 2013.

One begins April 13, and the other begins in September. They last for about three months.

Students will pay to be in the Academy; the cost is about $1,700. The first step to be a student is to pass the written test.

KCSO has added more dates so testing runs through February 6th, and then every Tuesday and Saturday through March 14th. To reserve a seat, applicants should call 661.868.1677 or email rtc@kernsheriff.org.

KCSO is also hiring trainees for the September Academy. Trainees are hired applicants and begin upon successful completion of the Academy.

Interested applicants should apply on the Kern County HR website.
