Posted 5:56 PM, Feb 18, 2017

The Kern County Fire Department rescued a person trapped in a vehicle surrounded by flood waters.

It happened in Arvin on David Rd., east of Wheeler Rd. just before 10 p.m. Friday night

Officials said when they arrived they found a single person in the back of a Ford F-150 pick up truck surrounded by two to three feet of rapid moving water.

Kern County Firefighters were able to secure a ladder from an embankment to the bed of the pickup and rescue the stranded motorist.

Additional KCFD personnel were sent down stream with rope bags as a precaution. The remaining personnel were able to safely remove the patient to dry land.

There were no injuries.
