KERN COUNTY, Calif. — On Thursday, Kern County Animal Services announced that the Kern County Animal Shelter located in Lake Isabella is expected to open up for the public for modified services within the next two weeks.
More services will be offered on a limited basis as they are made available in a safe manner.
Temporary changes to the Kern County Animal Shelter in Lake Isabella include:
· The Lake Isabella Animal Shelter will not be accepting healthy, friendly cats for intake. (Sick or injured stray/unowned cats will still be taken in)
· The Lake Isabella shelter will not be offering the option for pet owners to surrender their own animal to the County Animal Shelter
· A limited number of people will be allowed in the facility at one time. Patrons may be asked to wait in their vehicle, or outside until service can be provided
· Face coverings or masks are required for all visitors
“The staff that operates our animal shelter up in South Lake are some of the kindest, passionate people working in animal welfare. They truly love the community they serve. They do such a wonderful job of caring for the animals, and it is such an enormous relief that services will continue at the shelter, both in the short term, and the long term," said Director of Kern County Animal Services Nick Cullen states.
Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
