Officials with the Kern County Sheriff's Office said their  homicide detectives were called to the Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility to the report of an inmate death on Saturday.

Officials said they got the call at around 07:50 a.m.

KCSO's  preliminary investigation has determined a 44-year-old man with an extensive history of medical problems died while in custody. 

No signs of trauma were found and nothing criminal was discovered.

The Coroner’s Office will release the inmate’s name pending notification of his next of kin.
