The Kern County Sheriff's Office said Virgil Mitchell, 37, in no longer a person of interest in the disturbing video that has been circulating on social media.

Thursday morning, KCSO said Mitchell was a person of interest, but around 4:00 p.m. Thursday officials said further investigation showed Mitchell has various tattoos on his back and the man who appears to be holding a toddler over a bathtub in the video posted on Facebook Live does not.

Mitchell was arrested Thursday morning in Arizona by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Department on an unrelated probation violation.

In the video, the child appears to be screaming and is slammed into the bathtub.

Deputies were dispatched on Thursday around 12:30 a.m. to investigate the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact KCSO at 661-861-3110. The case number is 2018-00043237.
