KCFD: Vista Fire in Tehachapi held to 35 acres, 98% contained

TEHACHAPI, Calif. — The Vista Fire burning in the Golden Hills area of Tehachapi is expected to be fully contained by Thursday morning.

Kern County Fire public information officer Andrew Freeborn tells 23ABC that the blaze was contained to 35 acres and is 98% contained.

He said crews worked overnight and were able to help save multiple homes.

The blaze erupted around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Earlier Wednesday multiple helicopters, dozens of firefighters, and hand crews were on scene. The Bureau of Land Management and Kern County Sheriff's deputies also assisted.
