Hearing pushed back for woman accused of dragging dog while riding scooter

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The woman allegedly caught on video dragging a small dog behind her while riding an electric scooter in Downtown Bakersfield was in court Tuesday Morning.

The viral video spread across social media, sparking protests and calls for justice for the injured dog. In result, Elaine Rosa was charged with cruelty to an animal and a misdemeanor charge of failing to provide animal care. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

If Rosa is found guilty she could be sentenced to more than three years in jail and be fined $20,000.

Her next court date is scheduled for May 29.
