Halloween events taking place this weekend

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The pandemic may have changed how Halloween looks, but it can't stop the holiday altogether. Here are some events that you can enjoy safely this weekend!

Thursday:

  • The Village at Seven Oaks Trunk or Treat Extravaganza: "This year we will be keeping it contactless. Please join us for Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat Experience. We will have multiple treat stations around the community for your little ones to get treats. All guests must stay in your vehicles and follow the designated route. All guests must also wear masks."

Friday:

  • Pet Matchmaker Rescue Howl-O-Ween movie night: "Come join us for a fun and social distancing safe movie night under the stars on the Eve of Halloween! We have two shows for your enjoyment Hocus Pocus (PG) beginning at 7 p.m., and Scream (R) at 9 p.m. We will have snacks and drinks (pre-packaged and safe) available for purchase. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to showtime to find your seat."

  • Halloween Bash "Tacos & Micheladas": "Elements Venue & MG Events Presents a Halloween Bash w/Tacos & Micheladas. Doors open at 8 p.m., 21+, Security In Parking Lot & Venue. Fully Decorated Venue for Halloween Outside & Lounge Area."
  • BPD's Hal-LAW-een Drive-thru: "The Bakersfield Police Department will be hosting our 3rd Annual Hal-LAW-een event a little differently! In honor of social distancing, we will be holding a drive-thru event at Beach Park (3400 21st Street) from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m."
  • Hallowed Rock Fest: "Celebrate Halloween with music, drinks, games, and a Costume contest ran by yours truly. Doors open at 6, $5 admission. 1715 Elzworth St."

Saturday:

  • CARFLIX Presents: The Haunted Drive-In featuring Gremlins and Insidious: "Carflix brings Halloween to you in the safety of your parked vehicle! Not just a drive-in movie- this is an immersive Halloween experience for the whole family. One bag of trick or treat candy given to each car upon entry."
  • United Way Halloween: "The United Way of Kern County will be holding its first Family Fall Fest by providing a drive-through event to distribute 1,000 bags with new age-appropriate books to children in our community. The event will be held at the United Way Parking lot located on 5405 Stockdale Hwy in Bakersfield from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m."
  • Color Bakersfield Paint Drive Drop-off: "Creative Crossing Co-Create and Color Bakersfield are hosting a drive-by trick-or-treating drop-off event. Head over to the corner of Oleander Ave. and Brundage Ln. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and drop off art supplies to get a bag of candy."
  • Trick or Treat Drive Through Station: "Stockdale Moose Lodge #2178 Presents A FREE Family-Friendly Halloween Drive Trough Trick or Treat Station located at 905 Stine Road in Bakersfield CA from 5-7:30 p.m. Any donations and proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House."
