According to ABC30, the Kings County Fire Department is battling a large grass fire that has forced the closure of Highway 41 between Interstate 5 and Highway 33.
The fire is 2,000 acres burning off Interstate 5 and Milham Road with no containment. Tulare County CAL FIRE is also on scene assisting. CAL FIRE said at this time, the fire is burning at a dangerous rate of spread.
ABC30 said that Caltrans has also closed one southbound lane on I-5 at Milham Road. It is not yet known when the lane will reopen.
According to a tweet from Caltrans District 6, Southbound I-5's slow lane at Milham, just north of Kettleman City is closed due to the brush fire.
