BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — It's an annual fundraiser that benefits the California Association of Highway Patrolmen, Widows and Orphans' Trust Fund. What began as a way to honor CHP officer Mark Ehly, the "Tips for CHiPs" has been going strong for the past 10 years.
The annual fundraiser has brought in more than $265,000 in 10 years and is back again to raise money for the CHP's widows and orphans fund. It will be slightly modified, transitioning to a drive-thru style event, with limited seating inside and out due to the pandemic.
Last year the fundraiser brought in more than $32,000 for Kern County.
CHP officers will work alongside Outback Steakhouse employees to deliver lunch for $25, Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
