For the first time ever, Garces and Bakersfield Christian will play each other in a football game.

It's the first chapter of what's being called the "Mission Bowl" but players from both sides say the rivalry is already there.

“The only two private schools in Kern County are going at it. Same God, same everything, just playing football,” Conor Bruce, Garces senior quarterback, said.

“Every day is like ‘You guys better beat Garces’. Everyone I’m hearing that from,” Stephen Figures, BCHS senior running back, said.

Garces and Bakersfield Christian play Friday night.
