BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Friday, a former Liberty High School teacher took a plea deal regarding a sexual relationship he was having with a 16-year-old.
Jeffrey Hicks plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge of engaging in lewd conduct with a minor. A second charge of annoying a child under 18 was dismissed.
The terms of the plea deal include probation, he will be required to register as a sex offender, he must also complete 250 hours of community service and he is ordered by the judge to stay away from the teenager he was having a relationship with.
Hicks will remain out of custody until his sentencing which is scheduled for September 4.
