BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Forward progress for the so-called Bena Dire has been stopped and containment for the blaze has gone up. County fire says it sparked up Wednesday afternoon just off of Bealeville and Caliente Bodfish roads near Highway 58.
According to county fire, the blaze scorched 2,900 acres, which is down from previous estimates. However, containment has gone up to 80 percent.
Officials said they project it to be fully contained by Friday.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
