Edwin Rodriguez, ex-North athletic trainer, facing new charges of inappropriate behavior with teens

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Edwin Rodriguez, the former North High School athletic trainer, is facing new charges in connection to inappropriate behavior with minors.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, Rodriguez is facing 3 new charges. The KCSO arrest log showed the charges came across Monday morning.

Rodriguez faces a new felony count of exhibiting harmful matter to a minor and lewd and lascivious acts with a child 14 or 15 years old, and a misdemeanor charges of annoying a child under 18.

Rodriguez was arrested in February and faced 24 charges including lewd or lascivious acts with a child of 14 or 15 years old, exhibiting harmful matter to a minor, annoying a child under 18 and false imprisonment.

Rodriguez and his wife Josie Rodriguez both resigned from the Kern High School District in May. Josie Rodriguez served as a cheer and instructional aide at North High and has not been charged in connection with the case.

Edwin Rodriguez is scheduled to be in court Wednesday at 8 a.m.
