Democratic challenger T.J. Cox increases lead over Republican incumbent David Valadao

KERN COUNTY, Calif. — A new release of vote totals on the California Secretary of State's website shows the front-runner in the race for the 21st Congressional District is continuing to grow his lead.

As of 1:15 p.m. December 3, Democratic challenger T.J. Cox held 50.4% of the vote with a 820 vote lead over the Republican Incumbent David Valadao. Valadao currently holds 49.6% of the vote.

Kern County released their final batch of vote totals Monday afternoon, which increased Cox's lead by another 180 votes from Monday morning when he lead by 637 votes.

As of Monday afternoon, Tulare County is the only county with outstanding ballots that could impact the 21st Congressional District Race. They are reporting 1,510 ballots remain outstanding. Kern County, Kings County and Fresno are reporting all of their votes have been counted.

On November 28, Cox declared victory in the race. At that time, he had a 506 vote lead over Valadao.
