BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The impact of the deadly winter storms across the country is being felt also at the gas pump, directly affecting the price you pay for gas. GasBuddy reports a 15-cent increase in gas prices from last month to an average of $2.53 a gallon.
An oil industry analyst saying supply and production problems caused by the frigid temperatures are similar to a hurricane. He said oil production could be reduced by as much as a million barrels a day.
Natural gas production could be cut by 50-percent.
Experts said prices could go up by the weekend and could last for several months.
If you're looking to fill up your tank before those prices rise GasBuddy said the cheapest gas in Bakersfield is located at the Fast Trip on South Chester Avenue. It'll cost you $2.87 cents to fill up there.
