BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — UPDATE 1:18 p.m. Sunday 7/05/20: Kern County Search and Rescue crews resumed their search Sunday morning and said, they located a dead man near the same area in which a 35 year-old was swept away Saturday in the Kern River at Hart Park. Officials said this was near the east entrance of Hart Park. Crews said they have not confirmed the official identity of the man but will release information soon.

Kern County Search and Rescue crews are searching for the body of a man who went missing in the Kern River at Hart Park.
Crews have left the scene for today due to lighting, but will resume the search tomorrow morning.
According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, people on scene reported a 35-year-old man being swept away by currents at about 3:38 p.m.
The Bakersfield Fire Department told 23ABC that witnesses spotted the man face down in the water at another location of the river shortly after.
During this time crews were also informed of another person who went missing but was rescued before officials responded.
Officials are asking people not to get into the Kern River at this time.
