A road rehabilitation project is underway in the Pine Mountain Club area, to smooth out some of the rough spots, when it comes to winter visitors.
The first snowfall of the year signals the start of the migration by thousands of visitors to the mountains of southern Kern County.
So, the County roads department spent this week on a 9-mile stretch of Mil Potrero Highway leading into Pine Mountain Club, widening and repairing a handful of turnouts in hopes of avoiding the traffic congestion that always accompanies the 'snow bunnies'.
A large parking area at the base of Mt. Pinos has also been leveled to help with snow removal and proper drainage.
See the attached pictures, for a look at the Pine Mountain Club's suggestions for people who travel up to the area.
