County Board of Supervisors approves KCSO armored vehicle for SWAT team

Posted

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office will be getting a second armored truck with a $330,000 price tag.

The Kern County Board of Supervisors approved the new truck for the county sheriff’s office’s SWAT team.

KCSO asked for the truck to replace one that broke down four years ago.

The cost will be spread out over about five years.

Sheriff Donny Youngblood said the second truck was necessary to fulfill operations. KCSO commander Larry McCurtain said despite the recent budget cuts to the department, the purchase of a SWAT truck was high priority.
