BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Coroner's office has confirmed that Jagsir Singh' s cause of death was suicide by hanging.
Last week, Bakersfield Police responded to a home 5200 block of Shining Crag Avenue in Southwest Bakersfield for reports of a suicide. BPD did not initially name the person who had been found. The coroner's office did not initially give a cause or manner of death.
Singh's body was found nearly a week after the body of an hours-old baby boy was found buried in the home's backyard.
43-year-old Beant Kaur Dhillon has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of the newborn. Court documents say the baby was drowned hours after it was born in order to "prevent family shame."
Singh faced charges of accessory to the baby's death. He was arrested then bailed out.
23-year-old Bakhshinderpal Singh Mann is also wanted in connection with the baby's death. Mann has been charged with felony accessory to murder and still remains at-large.
