BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The coroner's office has completed their report on the man who was shot and killed by a California Highway Patrol officer on the northbound 5 Sunday night. The sheriff's office is handling the shooting investigation.
The coroner's report indicates that 19-yr-old Marvin Alexis Urbina of Downey was shot multiple times on the Laval Road on-ramp to the northbound 5 and died at the scene. As a result, the manner of death is a homicide.
Whenever a person is killed, whether, by a police officer or private citizen, it is ruled a homicide. That does not mean it's a murder.
We contacted the sheriff's office to see if there is a completion date for the shooting investigation. We have not heard back.
