DELANO, Calif. — Residents in Delano came together Sunday on the steps of city hall to remember several young people killed in deadly shootings this year.
The event was themed "United to End Violence" and those who participated called for justice for a handful of victims this year.
Most recently the 11 and 12-year-old victims of an apparent gang-related shooting were both remembered, as well as 19-year-old Nayeli Carrillo Gonzalez and 21-year-old Adam Guillen, both who were fatally shot earlier this year.
Guillen's father Pastor David Vivas is working with community leaders and victim families to send a message.
"As a person of faith I know we can pray, but we have to send a strong message out there to someone who knows something about these crimes to speak out and do the right thing," he said. "These two young girls did not deserve this. We want justice for them as well as for the others."
Anyone with information about these shootings in Delano is asked to call Delano Police at (661) 721-3377.
