Hundreds gathered in Southwest Bakersfield Tuesday night to pray and offer comfort to the Serna family.
Francisco Serna, 73, was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Southwest Bakersfield Monday night.
“The amount of the community that has come out this evening has really touched the hearts of the family, we appreciate your prayers and your support,” Cydni Imperial, a friend of the Serna family, said.
Local community activist Dolores Huerta also made an appearance at the gathering.
“This family is a very typical family in the Central Valley,” Huerta said. “The family they've been farm workers, they worked all of their lives pretty much to be able to support their children and here you have this violent death of their father Francisco.”
