CHP says social distancing is no excuse for speeding

BUTTONWILLOW, Calif. — Social distancing is no excuse for speeding. That's the warning from the California Highway Patrol.

In a post on Twitter, the CHP - Buttonwillow said, "Lighter traffic is NOT an invitation to speed. Please slow down and get there safely."

In their post, the CHP included a picture of several tickets showing drivers speeding over 100 mph (all identifying information was blacked out).

As many Californians are complying with the governor's stay at home order, those out and about may experience more open roads. CHP is reminding drivers that the rules of the roads still apply during this time, including speed limits.
