UPDATE (7:10 AM): The California Highway Patrol says an 80-year-old woman was killed in a crash Monday on Hwy. 119 at Buena Vista Road when for an unknown reason after stopping at a stop sign she turned her truck into the path of a semi.
CHP said the crash was reported shortly before 7:30 a.m.
An initial investigation found that the woman was driving a 2016 Ford truck south on Buena Vista Road, stopped at a stop sign at the Hwy. 119 intersection, and then, for an unknown reason, turned left into the path of a 2015 Peterbuilt semi, said CHP.
The front of the semi hit the left driver side of the Ford truck and the driver of the pickup was declared dead at the scene, said CHP.
The passenger of the Ford truck suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital. She was later identified as Linda Joyce Beaty, 80, of Bakersfield.
The driver of the semi wasn't injured.
CHP said alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected in the crash and all occupants of the vehicles were wearing seatbelts.
The California Highway Patrol is reporting a deadly crash happened Monday morning on Taft Highway and Buena Vista Road.
An initial report indicates the crash involved a pickup truck and semi, according to CHP.
One of the vehicles also hit a light pole, said CHP.
