Los Angeles Dodger's second baseman, Chase Utley, plans to hold a press conference Friday afternoon to announce he will retire at the end of the season.

Utley, the six-time all-star, has been mostly a bench player this season with the emergency of Max Muncy. In 16 seasons Utley hit .276 with 259 home runs, 1,025 RBIs and won four Silver Sluggers (best offensive player per position).

The announcement is expected before the Dodgers face the San Diego Padres at 3:15 p.m..
