BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A mother and daughter with a love of wine teamed up to open BottleShock Wine and Brew which is located in Downtown Bakersfield on 19th Street. Theresa and Shelby Gerber's venue has a 7,000 square foot outdoor patio with seating throughout.
Daughter Shelbey said they don't pretend to be wine experts but just know what they love and want to share it with the community. "We built it from the ground up, it was so fun. My grandparents were involved, my dad, my brother, our entire family was involved," said Shelby
Their wine bar focus on offering a selection of small production and boutique wines. Currently they serve over 90 different brands of wines and a variety of hard ciders on tap. Every month they also feature a selection of wines based on different regions. This month their features included wines from Italy.
They also have a variety of food to choose from. One of their most popular sandwiches is the 'Chicken and Fig' which is served on ciabatta bread and topped with brie cheese and fig jam. If you are looking for something light and fresh, they also serve a caesar salad and caprese tomato salad. However, for something to share with the table you can check out their charcuterie boards and crowd favorite, fresh made basil pesto bruschetta that's drizzled with balsamic glaze.
On Thursday September 24, BottleShock will host their first wine tasting event. For more information on how you can buy tickets contact BottleShock here.
