The Hosking Avenue Bridge over Highway 99 was renamed Friday in honor of Officer David Nelson, who was killed in a crash while chasing a suspect last year.
A dedication ceremony was held at the Bakersfield City Firefighters Hall on Wible Road.
Nelson was killed in the line of duty last year when following a suspect in Northeast Bakersfield.
Ground has also been broken at Pocket Park in East Bakersfield honoring Nelson’s memory.
