BPD: Warrant out for New Year's Day homicide suspect

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bakersfield Police continue to investigate a homicide that took place just before 4 p.m. on New Year's Day in South Bakersfield.

According to police, they responded to an apartment complex near 3200 South H Street for a shooting and located a victim, identified as Edgar Lopez, 43, suffering from a gunshot wound.

During their investigation, BPD arrested Irene Arellano, 39 and Martin Valadez, 40 on January 2 for being accessories to the murder of Lopez and on Thursday, January 3 arrested Steven Arellano, 33, for accessory to the murder of Lopez as well.

Investigators have obtained a warrant for murder for a suspect identified as Adam Arellano.

Arellano is described as a Hispanic 28-year-old man at 5 feet 11 inches. He weighs approximately 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Adam Arellano is considered armed and dangerous and was last seen leaving the area of 3300 California Avenue on January 1 at about 4 p.m.
