Five suspects arrested in Remington Avenue shooting, one connected to shooting death of 5-yr-old

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bakersfield police said they have arrested five suspects in connection to the shooting in a Southwest Bakersfield neighborhood on Saturday evening.

According to officials, a party on Winchester Street and Remington Avenue broke out in gunfire striking several homes in the area.

BPD said Jonathan Knight, 30 , Ricky Allen, 37, Paul Frausto, 27, and JP Chaney, 25, were arrested for assault with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and gang participation. Knight, also known as Lil Mice, was also named as a primary suspect in the shooting death of 5-year-old Kason Guyton. According to officials, he is a member of the West Side Crips. He has not been charged in that case.

Deon Davis, 41, was arrested for destruction of evidence, acting as an accessory to felony offense and gang participation.

Over 60 fired bullet casings were located across several blocks, many of which struck cars and homes. BPD confirmed that at least five firearms have been seized during the course of the investigation.

Numerous of residents told 23 ABC News that the neighbors who hosted the party have only lived their for a couple months.

All of the subjects were booked into the Kern County jail and the investigation is ongoing.
